About the new members

AKKA Technologies

AKKA Technologies is a consulting and engineering Group and European leader in the mobility segment offering turnkey engineering solutions to the world’s leading companies in the automotive industry.

Covering the full vehicle product development, they work on full vehicle development; engine, powertrain solutions with exhaust gas after treatment and electrics and electronics, Car IT.

They have been involved in the AUTOPILOT proposal and are very interested in working together with the ERTICO Partnership on Connected & Automated Driving, Interoperability and ITS for Urban Mobility.

INMARSAT

INMARSAT is a Satellite Network Operator providing global communications in voice data and M2M, delivering hybrid communications for ITS, including 5G.

They advocate the use of resilient and seamless communications using a mix of terrestrial and satellite connectivity which can support service continuity within vehicles and infrastructure irrespective of location. Innovative exploitation of satellite technology, such as provided by Inmarsat,  unlocks new application areas including new transport services.

In addition, Inmarsat were involved in the recent Glasgow Congress speaking under the topic ‘New transport services from satellite technologies.’

Inmarsat would like to join the Mobile Network Operators Sector within the ERTICO Partnership, bringing a new dimension to this group of Partners.

Luxembourg Institute of Science & Technology (LIST)

LIST is a Research and Technology Organisation active in the fields of materials, environment and IT. With the creation of the LIST, the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure has shown a clear signal that ITS is part of the future transport strategy in Luxembourg.

With a specific focus on Mobility – including the handling of bigdata from both public transport and infrastructure, different integrated tools used in ITS and the development of smart ticketing, parking electrical vehicles usage and integration in to the smart grid – LIST can bring added value to both the ITS for Urban Mobility and eMobility Programmes.

Satellite Applications Catapult

Satellite Applications Catapult actively promotes ITS within the satellite industry and community whilst also promoting the use of satellite technology along with terrestrial technology within the ITS Community.  This is done via demonstrations, white papers, conference participation and workshops. Based in the UK, the Catapult was established in May 2013 by Innovate UK as one of a network of centres to accelerate the take-up of emerging technologies and drive economic growth.

The ITS World Congress in Bordeaux 2015 was a starting point for including the Satellite industry into the ITS Community. One of the Congress topics (Space technologies and services for ITS) was dedicated to this and as such Satellite Application Catapult have been very active in providing input to this. Both through their membership of the Congress Programme committee, in the exhibition and with a Demo.

After Bordeaux, Satellite Application Catapult strenghtened this area and seeked continuation in other Congresses – e.g. the ITS European Congress in Glasgow in June and the World Congress in Melbourne in October this year.

In addition, they would like to actively participate in our activities and would bring an extra dimension as Satellite communication is not well represented in the C-ITS activities.
