Two new fast-charging points for electric vehicles are now in operation as part of the EU-funded Corri-Door project, which aims to enable an interoperable fast charging network in France and Europe.
The new charging points were installed at two motorway rest stops, Bosgouet Nord and Tardenois Nord in the regions of Normandy and Picardy respectively.
Users can now fully charge their electric vehicles in less than 30 minutes.
They are the first of a pilot deployment of 200 charging stations on major French motorways, which will be completed in December 2015.
The Corri-Door project will analyse many aspects related to the usage of electric vehicles and develop innovative business models supporting the deployment of a fast charging infrastructure.
It will also provide a roadmap for the rollout of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in France, as well as recommendations for other EU countries. The project is benefiting from almost € 5 million in funding from the TEN-T Programme, which supports the construction and upgrade of transport infrastructure across the European Union through financial support.
Corri-Door’s implementation is monitored by INEA, the European Commission’s Innovation and Networks Executive Agency.
