Being able to openly share details on who and what is involved in business transactions, as well as where the business is being conducted, is universally required across all sectors and markets, including transport and logistics. ERTICO-coordinated project FENIX (European FEderated Network of Information eXchange in LogistiX) has come up with an approach to address industry’s party and location needs worldwide.
“This use case will be one of the most important ones to demonstrate a basic step to increase semantic interoperability in FENIX.”, said Florian Krietsch from PTV, an ERTICO Partner and member of the FENIX consortium.
Over the last year, PTV and GS1, another member of FENIX, have been taking a holistic approach to address industry’s party and location use case needs worldwide, taking a first step towards supporting the future GLN Registry in the transport and logistics business with a webinar that gathered hundreds of people from over 50 countries. In this occasion, FENIX presented a proof of concept on how to unambiguously identify locations in a logistic calculation tool paired with features like postal address, location type, geo-data, validation date and owner of the location.
Prioritised areas that benefit from the strong party and location identification include inventory management, traceability, transport service efficiency and more.
