ERTICO’s 5G-LOGINNOV project once again demonstrated its ability to drive innovation and foster team-work by organising “Ideathons” in each of the three project’s living labs, Hamburg, Athens, Koper. The Consortium partners in the three sites will collaborate with the local technology incubators and research institutes to boost the innovation process.

5G-LOGINNOV has a ground-breaking brainstorming approach in boosting the boosting of new 5G-based applications for ports, freight, logistics and the industry 4.0. This method already emerged in 2021 when the Consortium welcomed five start-ups to support the project activity and collaborate in the development of 5G-based disruptive solutions. The launch of this initiative created new synergies and increased the interoperability between the numerous actors involved, therefore matching the expectations of the Open Call winners.

This year, the 5G-LOGINNOV project took things one step further. Three “Ideathons” – hackathons for ideas – have been programmed to consolidate the engagement and the partnership of the three living labs with local technological incubators. This tailor-made plan implies the collaboration with universities, research institutes and young researchers for the proposal of new 5G-based services with the final purpose of optimising freight and traffic operations at ports and logistic hubs.

The 1st Ideathon took place in July at the University of Applied Sciences, Economics and Culture in Leipzig. Here, the living lab leader, Ralf Willenbrock, showcased the 5G-LOGINNOV project as part of a lecture in the Mobile Communication course.

Athens living lab will be hosting online the 2nd Ideathon on 10 October, from 10:00 to 13:00 CET. Pavlos Basaras, the Greek living lab’s leader will open the discussion giving the opportunity to 5G experts to gather together and share lessons learnt and know-how. You can download the agenda here.

Finally, Luka Koper will organise the third and final 5G-LOGINNOV Ideathon. The event is planned on 19 October and the final agenda will be shared soon!
