On Tuesday, 26th November, ERTICO – ITS Europe convened with the Host Organising Committee in Birmingham to lay the groundwork for a comprehensive roadmap leading up to the 2027 ITS World Congress, taking place from 25-29 October at the NEC.
This joint meeting marked an important first step in establishing a unified global narrative, ensuring the delivery of a world-class event while maintaining inclusive and consistent momentum through local, regional, and international efforts.
Key priorities included early mobilisation of local stakeholders, such as public authorities, industry leaders, universities, and regional partners. In addition, initial partnership discussions began with organisations committed during the bidding process.
ERTICO and the Host Organising Committee developed a detailed timeline, defining key milestones, and outlined an activity plan for the next three years leading up to the ITS Congress in 2027. The meeting also included a site visit to the venue to further explore overall logistical needs.
Further Progresses with Appointment of Organisation Host Committee Chairs
Following the official Host announcement on 4th September, the Host Committee Chairs have now been confirmed: Andy Graham of White Willow Consulting will lead the Technical Working Group, and Louise Lawrence of WSP will head the User Experience Group.
The Technical Committee will work closely with ERTICO and the UK Host Committee to ensure the country’s strengths in ITS and cutting-edge technologies are showcased through presentations, papers, demonstrations, and exhibitions. This will enhance the Technical Programme by identifying engaging demonstrations and technical visits while also inspiring young professionals.
The User Experience Group will focus on ensuring the estimated 15,000 participants at the NEC enjoy a memorable experience. This will encompass local travel, in-congress activities, cultural visits, and opportunities for socialising. The group will also advise on strategies to attract attendees and ensure a sustainable and inclusive event.
