On 25 September smartCEM Newcastle pilot site organised a demo event to disseminate the project among local and regional stakeholders.
The event focused on two main aspects of the pilot site:
- Charging station management, in particular the use of Charge Your Car app to navigate to available charging points
- EV driving efficiency, to encourage people to drive more efficiently in order to conserve their charge
All the participants had a chance to test their efficient driving skills onboard of a fully electric vehicle, the Nissan Leaf. Dirk Kok from University of Sunderland won the challenge proving his ability to drive the most smoothly.
