Representatives from Korea Express Corporation, Kim Shi Han and Kim Chang-Young, leading the SMART Highways Project, visited the ERTICO office to find out more about our activities in the field of Connected and Automated Driving.
SMART Highways Project developed for 7 years safer and more convenient highways by converging advanced road, IT communication and automobile technologies. The project involved approximately 400 researchers from 68 institutes over the 7 years of activity with the total budget of 80 million USD under the slogan: “World Best Smart Highway”.
The meeting focused on Cooperative ITS applications/services and technologies evaluation in Europe. They show particular interest for and wanted to find out more about the EC-led C-ITS Platform and its final report. ERTICO presented some of its latest activities in the field such as Compass4D (concluded in 2015 with over 650 vehicles on the roads of 7 pilot sites) and the just started C-MobILE project. Other ERTICO activities of interest were the InterCor project and SENSORIS, the newly established ERTICO platform that is developing a global standard for vehicle-to-cloud sensor data.
The Korean colleagues presented their plan for C-ITS deployment in South Korea on a 41km motorway pilot) and also a dedicated road covering 7km with different use cases to be tested.
