Lorca, Spain, has put together its first sustainable urban mobility plan. What sets it apart is the extent to which citizens were involved in its conception.
Devised jointly with local residents and under a policy of “Open Government”, local residents were involved throughout the development process. A telephone survey was conducted with 2,000 residents, whilst four public meetings were held to gather local opinion. Civil society organisations were also involved throughout.
