With over 2500 people registered, the ITS European Congress in Helsinki represented a great networking opportunity for the ITS community. The project was strongly present at the event with a Compass4D/CO-GISTICS joint workshop on the deployment strategies of C-ITS on Monday 16 June and with a special interest session (SIS11) on Wednesday 18 June 2014.

Compass4D/CO-GISTICS joint workshop
With over 50 people attending, this stakeholders meeting looked at the outstanding contributions of the two European projects Compass4D and CO-GISTICS in the deployment of cooperative ITS (C-ITS) in cities and logistics hubs.

Speakers from both projects gave short presentations and presented the actual hardware, roads and equipped vehicles used for these two projects. The presentations and the interactive discussion with the audience very much focussed on practical issues related to C-ITS deployment, including measurement of financial benefits and involvement of users.

SIS11 – Innovative connection concept for logistics and supply chain management
Anita Toni organised a special session on Wednesday 18 June. The SIS looked into the benefits of linking logistics operations with cooperative services; it demonstrated how the exchange of information in currently existing freight and transport systems can improve the mobility of goods in urban areas.

The SIS was very well attended by more than 50 participants.
