The new charging stations will be installed by 1 September by energy company E.ON, and will make it possible to charge an electric vehicle (EV) at 125 locations across the city.
‘There is no doubt that more and more people in urban areas are choosing electric cars because of the environmental benefits,’ said Susanne Tolstrup, communications director at E.ON Denmark.
‘Therefore it is important to have a good, accessible network for people who live and work in the city, which will increase mobility and security for drivers [of EVs].’ Ms Tolstrup also highlighted that E.ON would continue to upgrade the 1000 charging stations that it operates in cities and towns across Denmark over the coming months.
The Danish Electric Vehicle Alliance is pleased that the charging network in Copenhagen is expanding, saying that it helps to raise the profile of EVs and reduces barriers to people who are considering buying an EV.
