The MaaS Alliance, supported by ERTICO and its Board Members, is taking an active role in discussing policy with prominent EU officials. Earlier this month, representatives from the Board virtually met with the Cabinet of Executive Vice-President Margrethe Vestager and representatives of DG CLIMA. These online meetings have proven to be very beneficial in discussing topical issues, such as data and digital platform regulations, competition and market access, and MaaS in the context of the Green Deal and Green Recovery. On 24 September, ahead of the annual MaaS Summit, the MaaS Alliance, represented by its Board and Secretary General, had a meeting with the Commissioner for Transport and Mobility, Adina Vălean. The meeting was productive in exchanging views on MaaS in the context of the European Commission’s upcoming Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy and revision of the ITS Directive. At the heart of the discussion, was the role MaaS plays in transport decarbonisation. The policy options needed to further support the uptake of MaaS and measures on how to remove the barriers related to data and market access, were also key points of the dialogue.
As next steps, the MaaS Alliance is engaged in actively taking part in the European Commission’s forthcoming consultations and workshops around MaaS-relevant topics. “It is important to continue an active and constructive collaboration with the European Commission in this important phase that will shape the strategic agenda for the next decade of European urban mobility,” said Jacob Bangsgaard, President of the MaaS Alliance and ERTICO CEO. Commissioner Vălean expressed a strong commitment to continue to work together.
More information about next steps and further progress will be communicated to MaaS Alliance members in due course.
