The EC project eCoMove has developed cooperative systems and applications for eco-driving, eco-logistics planning and eco-traffic management. When combined, these can deliver up to 20% reduction of fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

The EC project ecoDriver targets the same reduction by providing the right green driving feedback at the right time, through a dedicated multimodal human machine interface.

The evaluation of eCoMove solutions and their benefits is ongoing; so is the evaluation of ecoDriver HMI and feedback solutions, and both project teams will present early results and their methodology at the Convention Centre Dublin on 4 June 2013.

But most importantly, this workshop will be an opportunity to consult stakeholders on the future of these solutions, the timeframe for their implementation, and explore different scenarios from technological, political and societal viewpoints, as a basis for scaling-up the results and performing a cost-benefit analysis.

A joint ecoDriver/eCoMove Workshop took place on Tuesday 4 June, organised by ERTICO in conjunction with the ITS European Congress.

The theme was “Where do we go from here” and each project was presented, together with their approaches for validation, impact assessment and cost benefit analysis. A presentation of scenarios was made and barriers for implementation discussed.

ecoDriver’s partner project eCoMove has developed cooperative systems and applications for eco-driving, eco-logistics planning and eco-traffic management. When combined, these can deliver up to 20% reduction of fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The evaluation of solutions from both projects is ongoing and the workshop allowed ecoDriver and eCoMove to consult stakeholders on the future of these solutions, the roadmap for their implementation, and explore different deployment scenarios from technological, political and societal viewpoint, as a basis for scaling-up the results and performing a cost-benefit analysis.

The Report of the workshop as well as the three ecoDriver presentations are available below.
