Next 14-18 November 2011, the ETSI ITS Plugtest will take place in Helmond, hosted by TNO. The aim of this event is to validate the ETSI ITS Transport and Networking communication layer base standards. The ITS conformance test platform is currently developed by ETSI and the idea is to provide trial conformance tests during an interoperability event.
This first interoperability event is opened to any vendor or organisation developing ITS equipment with early prototype and implementations meeting the following characteristics:
- test platform that is a reference implementation and allows for full test automation
- product that can be tested for its compliance to a base standard on a layer-by-layer basis
- platform on which the following 5 test suites can run
– CAM (Cooperative Awareness Messages – TS 102 637-2)
– DENM (Decentralized Environmental Notification Messages – TS 102 637-3)
– BTP (GeoNetworking Basic Transport Protocols – TS 102 636-5-1)
– GeoNetworking – Media independent functionalities (TS 102 636-4-1)
– IPv6 over GeoNetworking (TS 102 636-6-1)
eCoMove partners NEC, Q-Free and Peek are taking advantage of this opportunity to perform verification of the Communication platform and ecoMessages developed in the project. eCoMove communication systems, including ecoMessages, will follow international standards.
The test is not a formal conformance test, but rather a set of tests to be performed in controlled lab-environment, established in cooperation with eCoMove and DriveC2X projects, C2C-CC and others, in order to test interoperability.
The test focuses on checking interoperability between different suppliers of ITS equipment and the focus is the following standards, i.e. the same set of standards specified in eCoMove system specifications:
- 802.11-2007 and IEEE802.11p-2010 IEEE Standard for Information technology—Telecommunications and information exchange between systems— Local and metropolitan area networks— Specific requirements Part 11: Wireless LAN Medium Access Control (MAC) and Physical Layer (PHY) Specifications and Amendment 6: Wireless Access in Vehicular Environments.
- ETSI TS 102 636-4-1 (V1.1.1): “Intelligent Transport System (ITS); Vehicular communications; GeoNetworking; Part 4: Geographical addressing and forwarding for point-to-point and point-to multipoint communications; Sub-part 1: Media independent functionalities”.
- ETSI TS 102 636-5-1 (V1.1.1): “Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS); Vehicular Communications; GeoNetworking; Part 5: Transport Protocols; Sub-part 1: Basic Transport Protocol”.
- ETSI TS 102 637-2 (V1.2.1): “Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS); Vehicular Communications; Basic Set of Applications; Part 2: Specification of Cooperative Awareness Basic Service”.
- ETSI TS 102 637-3 (V1.1.1): “Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS); Vehicular Communications; Basic Set of Applications; Part 3: Specifications of Decentralized Environmental Notification Basic Service”.
This test will ensure that the hardware and software modules brought into eCoMove and also developed in eCoMove is conforming to these standards. This means that CAM messages send out from eCoMove vehicles can be understood by a large number of other systems.
