ERTICO – ITS Europe had the great opportunity to connect with its Partners in person at this year’s ITS European Congress in Seville, organising a traditional ERTICO Partners tour on Wednesday, 21 May to explore the latest technological advancements and strengthen collaborative efforts. The tour served as an excellent opportunity to broaden the innovative initiatives, characterised by dynamic, interactive presentations that showcase the latest technologies and solutions by the presenting ERTICO Partners.
The ERTICO delegation, comprised of Chairman Dr Angelos Amditis, CEO Joost Vantomme, Chief Finance & Operations Officer, Didier Gorteman, Director of Innovation & Strategy Vladimir Vorotovic, Head of Partnership & Advocacy, Agne Vaitekenaite, and Partnership Officer Emil Berlin, had the opportunity to engage with Partners directly at their exhibition stands. These face-to-face interactions are invaluable in strengthening the relationships and gaining deeper insights into each Partner’s cutting-edge projects and strategic goals.
At the exhibition, the Directorate General for Traffic (DGT) shared its flagship projects, which are strengthening the operational capabilities of the traffic management centres and consolidating an integrated ecosystem that combines traffic management with user information services. The integration of SCADA platforms in the cloud, the use of connected mobility technologies with the use of IoT devices (i.e. v-16 emergency beacon and connected cones), and the consolidation of national traffic data will foster the creation of a smarter transportation system that can adapt to user needs and respond quickly to changes in traffic and infrastructure conditions. Implementing these strategies will enable smoother, safer, and more efficient mobility.
CTAG (Centro Tecnológico de Automoción de Galicia) delivered two cutting-edge demonstrations. The C-ITS Corridor Demonstration allowed visitors to experience how a connected vehicle receives real-time alerts about road hazards and events through V2X messaging, significantly improving safety and situational awareness on urban roads. The Autonomous and Connected Shuttle & AVP Demonstration featured a self-driving shuttle operating in the Port of Seville, linking the Aquarium to Torre del Oro. CTAG also presented an Autonomous Valet Parking (AVP) system where a vehicle performed a fully automated parking manoeuvre using onboard sensors and infrastructure-based V2X data.
Monotch showcased how it breaks down barriers to scalable connected mobility and digital infrastructure. The brand-new version of its TLEX platform was a central highlight, designed to simplify deployment dramatically. At the Monotch booth, the team demonstrated their plug-and-play use-case support packages, automated deployment processes, and industry partnerships that deliver almost instant value. These packages are already implemented and delivering benefits in real-life use cases.
Miovision, a new ERTICO Partner, welcomed visitors to stand A20 to explore its scalable intelligent transportation suite of products. They highlighted their innovative V2X solutions designed to reduce stop-and-go driving, thereby lowering fuel consumption and improving driver situational awareness. Miovision also presented solutions focused on protecting vulnerable road users at intersections. They were exhibiting at stand A20, welcoming visitors to learn about their scalable intelligent transportation suite of solutions aimed at protecting vulnerable road users at the intersection.
SWARCO offered a dual showcase combining visual immersion with AI-driven traffic management. Visitors experienced the evolved version of the GoGreen virtual reality platform, which was initially launched at the ITS European Congress in Lisbon in 2023. This version allows multiple users wearing VR goggles to interact in the same virtual environment, regardless of location—an innovation ideal for guided tours on complex urban mobility challenges. Additionally, their new 3D Product Explorer gave a realistic insight into traffic light technologies and the advantages of high-performance glass beads for night-time visibility in poor weather.
SWARCO also demonstrated its AI-supported traffic management approach. The SmartAI solution enhances the adaptability of traffic control across multiple intersections on extended corridors. It significantly outperforms traditional vehicle-actuated control, reducing programming and configuration time and allowing for easier prioritisation of different traffic modes. This innovation leads to cost savings for road authorities and minimises delays for all road users.
In addition to the above-mentioned highlights, the ERTICO delegation also visited stands hosted by AISIN, Seville City Council, ISBAK, T-Systems, and Google Maps, and ended at the ITS Spain booth.
At AISIN, the ERTICO delegation explored the latest innovations in mobility solutions, including its Tier 1 automotive giant which extends its safety and mobility solutions beyond vehicles to provideunique intelligence for road operators. RoadTrace by AISIN’s connected vehicle insights are 3 times more effective at predicting collision zones than historical crashes, enabling road operators to adopt a proactive approach to road safety.
The tour continued with representatives from the Seville City Council, gaining valuable insights into the city’s smart mobility initiatives and urban transport strategies. At the ISBAK booth, representing the City of Istanbul, the host of ITS European Congress 2026, they learned about Istanbul’s intelligent transportation systems and the company’s role in shaping the future of urban mobility. The visit to T-Systems provided an opportunity to delve into cutting-edge digital solutions for connected transport infrastructure. A stop at the Google Maps stand offered a glimpse into real-time navigation in enhancing mobility services.
The tour concluded at the ITS Spain booth, where we were welcomed by its new president, Soledad Pérez-Galdós. The delegation had the opportunity to hear and reflect on national efforts to advance intelligent transportation systems and foster collaboration across the mobility ecosystem.
The commitment to innovation and excellence demonstrated by ERTICO and its Partners during these tours is clear. Through continued collaboration, they are set to lead transformative advancements in intelligent transport systems, paving the way for sustainable and smart mobility solutions that benefit society.
These annual Partner tours have become a hallmark of ERTICO’s presence at the ITS Congresses, embodying the cooperative spirit that is central to the Partnership. They provide a unique and impactful platform for Partners to present their latest projects and innovations in a setting that encourages open dialogue and collaborative exploration, reinforcing the ERTICO community’s shared commitment to shaping the future of intelligent transport.
