The Urban Mobility Days 2023 is set to be a rendez-vous of prominent figures and stakeholders from the political arena, local authorities, industry leaders, and urban transport experts. Organised in collaboration with the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the EU, this event promises to be a pivotal moment in the evolution of sustainable urban transportation. With the 2023 theme of ‘European Year of Skills‘, the Urban Mobility Days will specifically focus on transport skills. As a thought leader, ERTICO will have active participation and support in promoting innovation in urban mobility.
Several ERTICO projects focusing on improving urban mobility will be present to showcase their innovative solutions, including SUM, SOLUTIONSplus, eBRT2030, SHOW, and REALLOCATE. On the first and last days of the event, they will all take part in the pitching sessions alongside other EU-funded projects, where they will have to catch the attention of the audience in just one minute. It is a perfect opportunity to discover these projects and what makes them unique.
In the session ‘Linking Urban Mobility and Urban Space to Achieve Climate Neutrality’, Joost Vantomme, CEO of ERTICO, will join to talk about the intricate balance between urban space allocation and climate-friendly transportation. Recognising that public space demands are shaped by diverse transport modes and emerging trends, such as e-mobility infrastructure and shared mobility services, the panellist will emphasise the importance of accessible and green urban infrastructure. Underlining that the future of urban mobility is inseparable from broader concerns like climate adaptation, inclusiveness, participation, and accessibility, the goals of the European Green Deal are central in this debate. Barbara Pons – Barcelona City Council – Commissioner for 2030 Agenda will moderate the discussion, ensuring a holistic exploration of these critical issues with five distinguished speakers who will share their insights and expertise, collectively paving the way towards climate-neutral and intelligent urban centres.
