The CONCORDA (Connected Corridor for Driving Automation) project contributes to the preparation of European motorways for automated driving and high density truck platooning.

The focus of the project, which was launched in October 2017, is on analysing the interoperability of technologies that enable V2X communications under real traffic conditions.

To facilitate the work of the consortium, project partners have been regularly organising technical workshops.

After the first, held in January in Athens, the second one at the beginning of June in Brussels, the third workshop was hosted at ERTICO’s premises on 7 November, as well as the first General Assembly on 8 November.

The workshop assessed the status of CONCORDA’s activities and debate the next steps. CONCORDA test site leaders from the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, and Spain presented their latest achievements, to ensure the alignment and interoperability of the test sites. This approach will allow CONCORDA to establish an overarching solution for European motorways.

Workshop participants also debated the cooperation options for the CONCORDA project with ICT4CART and ENSEMBLE projects.

CONCORDA seeks to align itself with C-ROADS, 5GAA, CAR2CAR and other EU initiatives, as well as establish good collaborative relationships between OEMs and Member States involved in the CONCORDA project.

Discussions also turned to the possible exploitation avenues for the CONCORDA applications. These will be analysed in more detail towards the end of the project in June 2020.
