September 7, 2014 @ 7:00 am - 1:30 pm

FOT-Net Data International Workshop on Data Sharing
organised in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT)
COBO Congress Centre (ITS Congress Venue), room 140A, Detroit
Sunday 7 September 2014
09:00-15:30
(before the ITS World Congress opening ceremony)

This workshop aims to exchange information on FOTs and data sharing between the three regions (Europe, Asia-Pacific and North America), discuss problems and solutions for data sharing and provide recommendations for a global data sharing framework. In this workshop we will have discussions in small groups, addressing either more technical questions or more organisational questions. This workshop is meant for everyone interested in data sharing, people working in FOTs, decision makers in private and public organisations, data experts and transport researchers.

Paper Presentation “A platform for sharing data from field operational tests”
Detroit, September 2014

During the Technical and Scientific Program at the Detroit Congress, FOT-Net Data will also organise a paper presentation. Exact location and date will be communicated in due time.

The paper describes how a platform is being developed for sharing data collected in FOTs. In these tests often a huge amount of data is gathered about driver behaviour and the interaction between drivers, vehicles, ITS, infrastructure and the traffic environment. These datasets are often only partly analysed because of targeted research goals and lack of resources. They may be of great value for other organisations and researchers in order to answer further research questions and to determine the impact of wide-scale use of ITS. The paper will describe a how a European platform for enabling data sharing and data re-use is being developed.
