On 19 October , after a week of technological experimentation, Livorno port hosted the final field demonstration for the pilot site event in the framework of the Autopilot project.
The event was organised to conclude the technical activities that enabled the integration of devices in vehicles, on roadside infrastructure, in radio rooms and information systems, and allow automatic driving using information and communication technologies.
This was an occasion to showcase the fruitful collaboration between ERTICO and the Authority of the Northern Tyrrhenian Sea Port System, already effective in the Traffic Management 2.0 initiative and in the H2020 COREALIS project, focusing on 5G: Livorno has been, in fact, one of its 5 living labs.
François Fischer, ERTICO Project Manager for Autopilot, underlined how ICT and digitalisation are changing not only the automotive sector, but the whole mobility concept, involving stakeholders and major industries to participate to the necessary evolution and technical innovation.
