The Future Internet Public-Private Partnership (FI-PPP) is a three-phased research programme co-funded by the European Commission. Its which objectives are to:

  • develop software “generic enablers” for the Future Internet which can be used as a common Future Internet Core Platform;
  • define requirements for the Core Platform and use cases for field trials implementation to demonstrate the value of the Future Internet
  • identify infrastructure capacities to support Phase 2 trials and federation of infrastructures to provide a pan-European facility for Phase 3 pilots

With the end of its Phase One and the approaching launch of the second phase the FI-PPP is already looking to mobilise stakeholders for phase three. Therefore we have organised a large-scale event to share our vision objectives and outcomes.

This event is organised in conjunction with Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona on 28 February- 1 March 2013 with the aim of engaging stakeholders such as SMEs developers cities regions industry and end-users and raise their awareness of all the possibilities to participate and benefit from the FI-PPP.

Instant Mobility one of the usage area projects of the Phase One representing the transport and mobility use cases will be demonstrating its three scenarios on multimodal journey planning urban freight delivery and traffic management in the cloud. The event will also include a conference and workshops to communicate and discuss the results of Phase One and explain the benefits in different application domains of this new business ecosystem based on open interfaces enabling third party services and applications to emerge and develop into new markets.
