Huawei has announced that it will showcase its latest innovations at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) held in Barcelona from March 2 to 5, 2015. Together with global customers and industry partners, Huawei will share its insights and latest updates on smart cities, fostering an open digital ecosystem, and enhancing user experience in a better connected world.
“The mega trend of building smart cities will drive urban development. Governments around the world want smart cities to enable efficient management, reliable operations, convenient services, and eco-friendly economic growth,” said Mr. David He, President, Marketing & Solution Sales Department, Huawei Enterprise Business Group. “Huawei believes that innovative ICT as the core driving force for smart cities. We are committed to laying a solid foundation that offers flexible information sharing, ubiquitous broadband access, a high level of service agility, and enhanced security for smart city development. Huawei also provides an open ICT platform and continued to work with partners to build an efficient, win-win industry ecosystem to promote the deployment of intelligent applications.”
Smart cities are creating a wealth of opportunities by activating, transforming, and even disrupting some industries. In response to this, telecom operators have realized a need to adjust their approach for vertical industries, enhance cooperation with partners throughout the industry chain, and build cloud service platforms to provide enterprise customers with comprehensive ICT service capabilities. Huawei addresses this challenge by providing telecom operators with services and end-to-end solutions to maximize the usage of networks and platforms, leverage operational advantages, and explore emerging opportunities resulting from enterprise ICT transformation trends and the rise of smart cities.
At MWC 2015, Huawei will showcase a wide range of ICT products and solutions for smart cities at a series of demonstrations, keynote speeches, and customer meetings. These products and solutions include Huawei’s Safe City Solution, the All-in-one Collaborative Cloud Solution for enterprise branches and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), the Machine-to-Machine (M2M)-based Energy Efficiency Management Solution, and the Digital Journey and Intelligent Bus Solution. Details of the solutions are provided below.
1. Safe City Solution: Making cities safer and smarter
Public security relies heavily on technology. Cutting-edge ICT helps to enhance public safety by enabling active prevention, quick response during incidents, and efficient evidence collection.
Huawei’s Safe City Solution provides ubiquitous high-performance broadband network coverage to connect a large number of High-Definition (HD) cameras and sensors for around the clock protection. The solution also includes the world’s first Long Term Evolution (LTE) multimedia trunking system that supports emergency response across multiple parties and is compatible with video cloud, intelligent analysis, video conferencing, and voice trunking systems. Huawei’s Safe City Solution has been successfully deployed in more than 100 cities across 30 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and the South Pacific.
2. All-in-one Collaborative Cloud Solution: Delivering enhanced operational efficiency for enterprise branches and SMEs
Huawei’s All-in-one Collaborative Cloud Solution effectively integrates applications, networks and terminals to provide cloud-based and easily deployed video communications and collaboration. It also enables mobile office services to enhance the operational efficiency of enterprise branches and SMEs.
This solution has been successfully deployed by the Hong Kong-based telecom operator Pacific Century CyberWorks (PCCW) to provide its global customers with High-Definition Video Communication (HDVC) services. In addition, deployed in conjunction with the Huawei AR G3 devices, the solution has helped Vodafone and Telecom Italia reduce its Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and eliminate service interruptions.
3. M2M-based Energy Efficiency Management Solution: A comprehensive M2M solution for an open and collaborative ecosystem
Huawei is the only vendor to provide end-to-end ICT solutions that manage device connectivity in public and private networks. Huawei provides an open M2M service quality management platform to keep users informed about energy consumption levels and uses diverse control policies to enable remote and centralized energy efficiency management.
The solution was deployed by Australian telecom operator Optus to help The University of Melbourne manage and reduce energy consumption by 62.5 percent.
4. Digital Journey Solution: Supporting new service offerings and enhancing user experience
As more consumers use mobile devices, there has been a rising demand for mobile hotspots on buses. Huawei can address this trend with its LTE and customer-centric agile gateways that provide high-speed mobile connectivity on trains and buses. With an integrated design and an open platform, the solution helps bus and train operators reduce maintenance costs, enable the offering of additional value-added services, and improves customers’ overall traveling experience. This solution has been deployed by transportation companies in various countries such as Bus Online in China and BizkaiBus in Spain.
