The IRU Academy showcased the need for professional training to improve road safety, transport efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions, to major road transport stakeholders at a seminar organised by IRU Member BAMAP and opened by Deputy Minister of Transport, H.E. Alexander Shishko. It focussed on the key causes of accidents for heavy vehicles, based on conclusions from scientific studies such as the European Truck Accident Causation Study.

A high point in the seminar was the presentation of the IRU Academy Crash Prevention Programme, an innovative and interactive programme that addresses driver behaviour, which accounts for some 85 percent of road traffic accidents. Participants underlined that professional training is necessary to ensure the safe, efficient and sustainable transport of people and goods by road.
