ITS (UK), the association for all who work in the Intelligent Transport Systems sector in the UK, has introduced a new membership category to support ITS start-up companies. The new category offers membership at a third of the cost of standard Membership, to small start-up companies which have been trading for less than two years.

The quick adoption of open data principles by the UK public sector has led to an impressive growth in small, innovative outfits using transport data to create services and products. The restructuring of the large ITS employers during the economic downturn has also created many entrepreneurs, who have taken redundancy and decided to strike out on their own. ITS (UK) is keen to engage with both categories of new-style ITS companies and offer them appropriate services.

Graeme Scott of IBI Group, Membership Director of ITS (UK), said “We are delighted to be able to introduce this new cost effective category of membership to support the many smaller organisations operating in our sector. We believe that this will allow them to participate and benefit from the activities of ITS (UK), including our Interest Groups, seminars and workshops, and contribute to a stronger and more representative association”.
