The third webinar of the series ahead of the 15th ITS European Congress will be on Future Traffic Management: a topic that also touches the daily lives of each one of us. This important topic will be represented in the Congress programme through various Special Interest Sessions and Paper presentations. Some of the subtopics discussed will include: emergency and incident management; data analytics and Big Data handling, the resiliency of systems and service networks, service providers in future traffic management environments, simulation and modelling techniques, cross border solutions, including standards and interoperability, multimodality (integrating land, sea & air network management), the scaling up from pilot projects to full-scale deployment, and environmental impact measurement of ITS implementations.
The webinar on 5 April, Wednesday, will offer a preview of what attendees can expect on the topic at the Lisbon Congress and more. With just six weeks remaining from that day until the start of the Congress on May 22, webinar host and chair Lisa Boch-Andersen, Director of Communications, Congresses & Events at ERTICO, will provide an update on the latest preparations for Lisbon. ERTICO CEO, Joost Vantomme, will underline the strategic significance of the topic for ERTICO’s activities and its Partnership.
Dr Johanna Tzanidaki, ERTICO’s Chief Innovation Officer, will moderate the panel session and lead the discussion on the topic of the day. During this session, Dr Laura Coconea, Head of Portfolio Management ITS Division at SWARCO AG, will highlight the role of service providers in the new traffic management ecosystem. Irfan Shaffi, Transport for London’s Operational Control Manager, will present an overview of what it takes to move from pilot projects to full-scale deployment of some smart traffic management solutions. Senior Manager of Innovation & Deployment at ERTICO Dr Tamara Djukic will focus on the importance of simulation and modelling techniques in future traffic management systems. Jop Spoelstra Innovation Manager at Technolution, will present some indications of the measurement of sustainability impact. Finally, in his presentation, Chief Strategy Officer at Armis ITS and President of ITS Portugal, Pedro Barradas, will discuss traffic management systems and service networks from the point of view of resiliency.
