A Lisbon mobility project has won an international award at the 2015 World Congress of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) in Milan (Italy).

The ‘Let Us Move You’ project – organised by Lisbon’s transport operator, Trasportes de Lisboa, and metro company, Metropolitano de Lisboa – aims to increase the number of young adults using the metro for everyday journeys.

The project, which received financing from the EU-co-funded CIVITAS Initiative, also addresses the barriers that young people face when using public transport and which influence their travel behaviour, and includes them in the decision-making process for improving sustainable mobility in the Portuguese capital.

Let Us Move You included a competition to find innovative new ways to improve sustainable mobility in Lisbon with a first prize of € 1000. The winning project proposed the concept of offering electric bike-sharing to complement conventional public transport.

The project received € 6000 in co-funding from the CIVITAS Activity Fund. Three competitive calls for co-funding have already taken place between 2014 and 2015. A final fourth call is set to be announced later this year.
