The MOBiNET project will develop, deploy and operate the technical and organisational foundations of an open and multi-vendor platform for Europe-wide mobility services. To ensure wide deployment of the platform, the MOBiNET consortium established the Provider Community. The Provider Community is a network of content and service providers which aims to create a propitious environment for harmonised implementation of services. The MOBiNET platform will be hosted as cloud services available to the Provider Community. Release 1.1 of the platform is already operative, and available for validation to all members of the Provider Community.
The seedling members of the Provider Community are consortium partners and associated members of the MOBiNET project. Key seedling Provider Community members such as RACC (organisation private/professional vehicles), SWARCO MIZAR (B2B service provider) and PTV AG (B2C service provider) will use and evaluate the benefits of the Platform.
Invited and supported by the North Denmark Region, the launch event of the Provider Community was held in Aalborg, Denmark, on 14 October 2014. At the launch event, MOBiNET developers presented the functionalities of the Platform currently available. Aalborg University demonstrated an Android mobile App for parking service which uses functionalities of the MOBiNET platform. PTV AG, a non-consortium member of the MOBiNET project, presented their plan to use the MOBiNET platform and their view on benefits of joining the Provider Community.
The event was attended by about 100 stakeholders, including those who attended via a virtual meeting facility (the presentations and webinar record are available on the project website).
