After years of research and 3 years of labour, the 2.7km track between the terminus line D in Strasbourg and the Aristide-Briand station of Kehl has been finalised. This cross-border link symbolizes the development of relations between the two cities as well as the simplification of the cross-border commute. Every day thousands of travellers use the bus between Strasbourg and Kehl. The tram offers a simpler and faster service. The extension of the Tramline D will serve the zone of the Two Rivers and the district of the Port of the Rhine. It will also reinforce the service of the port area.
The opening of the tramline was truly an historical event and was celebrated with a Tramfest organised on both sides of the Rhine.
