The SHOW project’s demo sites are kicking off the next phase of their activities in a big way. After extensive research and preparations, five Mega Sites and six Satellite Sites are launching their pilots in 11 EU countries. Over 20 cities host these innovative demos. The pilots include robotaxis, buses and shuttles for people and goods.

Cities are reinventing mobility through automation, bringing sustainability and seamless transportation. ERTICO’s EU-funded project SHOW researches and deploys shared, connected and electrified automated vehicles around Europe. The project partners have started launching their pilots. Together with the Follower Sites, more than 20 European cities will see the integration of fleets of automated vehicles in public transport (PT), demand-responsive transport (DRT), Mobility a Service (MaaS) and Logistics as a Service (LaaS) schemes.

Here is some interesting news coming from the demo sites:

Brno (Czech Republic)

Urban Mobility Days are around the corner. From 20 to 22 September, the city of Brno will receive high-level mobility and transport personalities and stakeholders to discuss how to ‘move people and goods more sustainably. SHOW will be present at the event, launching its Czech demo, focused on autonomous traffic in a real-city environment.

Graz, Salzburg and Klagenfurt/Pörtschach (Austria)

Austrian demos are ready to go. An automated shuttle service, an automated DTR for a peri-urban region and shuttles that connect train stations with other neighbourhoods are kicking off in Graz, Carinthia and Klagenfurt/Pörtschach, respectively.

To better understand the insights of these real-life operations, SHOW partners from AustriaTech are preparing an online event on 14 October.

To get a better overview of the SHOW big picture, on 19 October you can join the SHOW 3rd Pan-European Workshop, taking place in Madrid.

Representatives from Empresa Municipal de Madrid – EMT, the city of Madrid and the European Commission will attend the session. The workshop will conclude with a visit to the automated bus pilot at the EMT bus depot.

Turin (Italy)

Last July, SHOW partners from the Italian demo presented their ‘AuTOnomo GTT’ shuttles. These driverless vehicles are a flagship for Italy’s automated public transport. Stay tuned for the official launch event on 25 October.

More demos will be kicking off in France, Sweden or Germany, among others. Check out the SHOW website to not miss anything.

The SHOW project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 875530.
