Yunex Traffic has successfully signed the contract for the development of a new ITS system for the city of Zielona Góra, Poland. The contract covers the development and installation of intelligent software and hardware solutions to improve traffic conditions, increase traffic safety and sustainability.
In May 2022, the city of Zielona Góra opened a tender for a new ITS system with the aim of redeveloping the infrastructure with the main goal to improve traffic conditions by providing integrated tools for performing traffic management and control tasks. After reviewing the bids, the City of Zielona Góra awarded the contract to Yunex Traffic.
Following the successful signing on August 30, 2022, Yunex Traffic will begin implementing the new ITS system in the coming weeks. The project is expected to be completed on October 30, 2023.
Yunex Traffic will install a new traffic management system and prioritization technologies for 90 public transit buses at 17 intersections. In addition, 43 cameras will be added to the CCTV city surveillance system. 7 permanent traffic measurement stations and a video traffic measurement system at 5 traffic circles will be installed. An ITS web portal will be established to provide information from the new ITS system on traffic and traffic congestion occurring
The new management system improves traffic conditions at various levels, benefiting road users and transport operators as well as the environment. By connecting vehicles to the infrastructure, the city will be able to make optimal use of the infrastructure and ensure its functionality.
In addition, the new ITS technology will pave the way towards more sustainable mobility in the city by prioritizing public transport and reducing CO2-intensive stop-and-go situations. Thanks to the improved traffic flow, critical situations at intersections can be avoided and the safety of road users will be increased.
“The ITS system we develop for Zielona Góra proves how transport technology can improve the quality of life in cities: It will reduce travel and stop times in the area and improve the functionality of public transport. This will make buses and trains more attractive and reduce air pollution from individual car traffic. We thank the city for its trust and look forward to bringing this exciting project to life in the coming months,” says Dariusz Obcowski, President of the Management Board of Yunex Traffic Poland.
