The location technology specialist, TomTom have announced a new deal with Hubject, an e-mobility digital specialist providing one of the world’s largest cross-provider platform for electric vehicle charging.

TomTom’s EV suite and TomTom’s Maps APIs are receiving more information about charging point locations, connector types and assisting drivers and EV fleet managers to save time and avoid stress. By advancing TomTom maps and EV suite, the relationship with Hubject will help TomTom’s aim to remove the barriers to widespread adoption of electric vehicles.

Today, more than 175,000 out of 450,000 charging points globally provides availability information to drivers via TomTom’s EV charging point’s service.  “This agreement with Hubject means TomTom’s navigation offers EV drivers access to an industry-leading number of charging points, making them more relaxed about their vehicle’s range – and where they can charge it – than ever before”, said the Managing Director of TomTom Automotive, Antoine Saucier.

The latest TomTom EV Routing and Range technology use a broad catalogue of factors to plan the best route, precisely predict the range and calculate a reliable estimated time of arrival (ETA). These factors include current and maximum battery level, driving speed, road type and gradient, and traffic and charging point information.

Christian Hahn, CEO of Hubject, said, “We are delighted to be working with TomTom to bring information on the world’s largest cross-provider EV roaming platforms to even more EV drivers”.

TomTom’s Extended Routing API, which provides Long Distance EV Routing, considers all the available charging possibilities along the way. EV POIs are available to developers via TomTom’s Maps APIs and users will be able to find all of TomTom’s EV POIs via the Search API. Drivers can also find available EV charging points on the TomTom GO Navigation app and through TomTom’s newest sat nav: the TomTom GO Discover.

TomTom allows smart mobility globally, making the roads safer, the drive more accessible, and the air cleaner by providing reliable maps, navigation software, real-time traffic information and APIs.
