The latest update to the Ericsson Mobility Report reveals that mobile broadband subscriptions surpassed the 3 billion mark in Q2, 2015, and in that quarter, 55 percent growth in data traffic was recorded year-on-year.
The updates outlined in the report focus on two particular areas: namely broadband subscriptions figures for the second quarter of this year; and year-on-year growth in data traffic between Q2, 2014 and Q2, 2015.
With the global uptake of mobile broadband ever on the rise, the report reveals that subscriptions exceeded an astonishing 3 billion in the second quarter of 2015. This means the figure has increased by roughly 25 percent since last year, when it was 2.4 billion for the corresponding quarter. Now the figure has risen to 3.1 billion.
A similar upward trend is identified on the data-usage front: a direct result of the surge in mobile connectivity and the continued rise of the smartphone. The report points to 55 percent growth in data traffic during the Q2, 2014 to Q2, 2015 period. This pattern has remained steady for a while, with a similar year-over-year growth percentage figure having been recorded also in Q4, 2014 and Q1, 2015.
The Ericsson Mobility Report provides vital data that helps people, businesses and society move deeper into the Networked Society.
