The VRA – Vehicle Road Automation – project is pleased to announce the launch of its website www.vra-eu.net and other, collaborative tools to promote and expand the VRA community.
The EU funded VRA project is an open network of experts and stakeholders to foster collaboration on vehicle on road automation between the numerous international, European and national actors. VRA helps to keep the momentum and coherence around European activities on automation. VRA contributes to spreading excellence and disseminating knowledge by cataloguing and promoting the past and current activities on vehicle and road automation.
In order to promote exchange of information and research on vehicle and road automation activities in Europe and beyond, VRA launches following tools:
– The VRA wiki – www.vra-net.eu/wiki – is a shared resource for road vehicle automation activities around the world.
It aggregates information and catalogues existing research or deployment activities. Around 40 projects are currently in the catalogue with an abstract, contact point, website, sponsor, budget/funding and outcome.
The VRA wiki is a free living tool that everyone can edit: it is a tool “for and by” the VRA community.
All experts and stakeholders are invited to actively contribute to the VRA wiki.
– The VRA website – www.vra-net.eu – contains comprehensive information about the VRA project and activities. It provides updates on relevant events, trilateral and concertation meetings etc.
Sign up on the webpage or the RSS feed http://vra-net.eu/?feed=rss2.
– VRA Twitter – @info_vra – updates you on vehicle and road automation news around the world.
Please “follow” us on Twitter to receive automation news and use the mention @info_vra if you find anything relevant.
– Webinars : a series of webinars on vehicle and road automation is being organised.
Information on the webinars will be promoted via the VRA website.
– email@example.com : anyone interested in VRA activities can register via this e-mail.
The VRA project invites all experts and stakeholders to contribute to the VRA community by actively using the above tools.
VRA – Vehicle and Road Automation is a support action funded by the European Union to create a collaboration network of experts and stakeholders working on deployment of automated vehicles and its related infrastructure. The VRA project is considered as the cooperation interface between EC funded projects, international relations and national activities on the topic of vehicle and road automation. It aims to maintain an active European network of vehicle and road automation experts and stakeholders, to contribute to the EU-US-Japan international collaboration on vehicle and road automation, to identify deployment needs for the different domains of vehicle and road automation and to promote the European research on vehicle and road automation through an innovate set of dissemination tools. VRA will address the identified deployment needs from different perspectives: the deployment scenarios, the legal and regulatory needs and finally the standardisation and certification requirements. Subgroups have been established, focusing on following areas of study and interactions: connectivity, digital infrastructure, human factors, roadworthiness testing, evaluation of benefits, and reliability and cyber security.
VRA is financed by the European Commission DG CONNECT and coordinated by ERTICO – ITS Europe. The project runs from July 2013 to December 2016.
