A new MaaS application will be a delegate app at ITS2018 and provide free transport to the delegates.
The ITS World Congress taking place from September 17-21 2018 in Copenhagen and will be attended by ministers, mayors, European Commissioners, CEOs, scientists, and government officials from all over the world.
At the same time, Copenhagen Municipality is committed to the global effort to end climate change and make Copenhagen a green, healthy, and sustainable city. Easy and smart access to collective transportation is crucial in order to reduce the CO2 emissions from Copenhagen and other big cities – and mega cities – around the world. The ITS World Congress in Copenhagen is therefore a unique place to show the attendees – being political decision makers at state, local and European level – how far ahead Denmark is, when it comes to merging the data of public and private forms of transportation into a digital solution, which will make collective transportation the easiest and smartest way to travel. In other words, the ITS World Congress with over 10,000 attendees needing transportation from A to B – in a big city where all forms of private and public transportation is available – is a great opportunity to create focus on mobility as a service.

During the ITS World Congress, all the participants as well as the citizens of Copenhagen will therefore be able to use a new, multimodal journey planner-app, which has been developed especially for this congress. The application is called MinRejseplan (meaning ‘My Travel Planner’), and it will display information about all sorts of collective transportation – public as well as private transportation and other forms of mobility services – such as trains, the metro, buses, carpooling, harbour-ferries, taxis, car-sharing, bicycle-sharing, and city bikes. The application will provide free transportation with all public modes to the delegates.
With the new, multimodal journey planner, the traveller will be able to find the best and easiest way to get from A to B, even if the easiest way means a combination of public and private transportation and perhaps car- or bicycle-sharing along the way, too.
The application features a wide range of information, based on the data from the different forms of transportation. This gives the traveller the possibility to make both long-term and short-term travel planning, since the app can show the next departure of every form of transportation, it can find out, what the price is, and it can suggest the fastest way to travel right now, in one hour, or the following day.
Costumers will even be able to make a booking and payment of the selected journey by getting forwarded from MinRejseplan to the transport provider’s app. Therefore, MinRejseplan is a huge step towards creating a mobility as a service-app.
Attendees at the ITS World Congress 2018 will get access to a digital ticket solution, which will be included in the app for the participants of the congress only. Rejseplanen, Denmark’s digital travel portal will provide an integrated voucher solution into MinRejseplan, which is only valid for public transport in the city of Copenhagen during the congress. The ambition is to make it possible to search, book and pay with one travel planner-app.
If everything goes well, citizens and travellers in Copenhagen will be able to keep the new travel planner-app after the congress. Furthermore, the ambition is to extend the solution to cover all of Denmark.
