(SUMP) development, has reported that its networks are expanding.ENDURANCE’s goals include establishing enduring national SUMP networks in all EU countries and Norway, and raising awareness of SUMPs and their benefits at national and European-level institutions.
According to the project, Lithuania now has 13 members and the Association of Local Authorities has agreed to be the network co-ordinator. In Norway the first national SUMP conference took place in April, attended by nearly 140 delegates.
The Estonian network now has more than 50 people and moderates a vibrant Facebook discussion group(link is external) with over 670 members. Meanwhile, in October the Latvian network held a SUMP seminar and welcomed Daugavpils and Rezekne as new members.
In Eastern Europe seven Hungarian cities joined the national network, while Poland now boasts 22 members. The Greek network’s first national event attracted 125 participants, most from regional and local authorities. The Netherlands network, which has 10 cities as members, broadcast its second national meeting online. The German network, meanwhile, has produced a new publication on recommendations for mobility master-planning(link is external) [opens pdf].
