The MOBiNET project is co-organising the ITS Hackathon together with ERTICO-ITS Europe and Michelin Challenge Bibendum, and in partnership with the eSafety Aware European project and FIA. The ITS Hackathon will take place in Hall 2, CEB at the ITS World Congress in Bordeaux, from Tuesday, 6th to Thursday, 8th October 2015.
The Hackathon invites academics, start-ups, app developers and service providers to come up with new ideas and apps for Mobility Services using the different components of the MOBiNET e-market place together with the Mobility services developed in MOBiNET and traffic and transport related data from Bordeaux and Glasgow. Participants can also develop new services for the platform, for example functionalities that can be used by other services and that eventually could become platform standard features. The developed services should be designed with a European dimension in order to facilitate the take up of a European wide e-market place.
At the start of the competition, participants will form teams, brainstorm and refine their concept with the support of the Hackathon coaches and mentors and begin the coding process.
Teams will have two days to design their services and applications. On the morning of Thursday 8 October, participants will present their finished services, applications or solutions to a jury of top ITS managers.
Following jury deliberation, the award ceremony will take place on Thursday afternoon, at the Stakeholder Workshop on City-Industry collaboration for low-carbon mobility at 14.00-18.00 in Palais des Congrès – Amphi B, organised in the framework of the Sustainable Urban Mobility thematic day, and in the presence of Bordeaux Mayor Alain Juppé, the French Minister of Ecology, Ségolène Royal and high-level representatives of FIA, Michelin and the European Commission.
Winners of the ITS Hackathon will receive prize money and the opportunity to demonstrate their conceptat the European ITS Congress in Glasgow in 2016. There will be several prize categories promoted by the ITS Hackathon partners.
