Following the adoption of the Horizon Europe 2023-2024 work programme the European Commission has launched a new joint call for project proposals to support research and innovation under two EU Missions: EU Mission on Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities and EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change.
This joint call between two EU Missions – 100 Climate-neutral and Smart Cities by 2030 and Adaptation to Climate Change – will support projects working on urban greening for regeneration, resilience and climate neutrality. The total indicative budget available is EUR 40 million. The deadline for submissions is 27 April 2023.
The call covers the demonstration of climate mitigation and resilience solutions in support of the implementation of the Adaptation to Climate Change and Cities Missions.
Project results are expected to contribute, inter alia, to the following expected outcomes:
- Regenerated, climate-proofed, environmentally, socially and economically upgraded built environment, in particular in deprived districts and neighbourhoods, abandoned areas or derelict industrial sites through greening and re-naturing interventions;
- Improved quality of life and social cohesiveness of the urban areas by means of greener, renatured, regenerated, more bio-diverse, safer, mixed/multi-use and shared urban (public) spaces and built environments, whilst catering for climate change mitigation, adaptation, resilience and energy poverty of various social groups.
