ERTICO’s newest initiative, ‘Thought Leadership Journeys‘ – a Partnership Webinar Series, is now in full motion, focusing on the EU Mobility Shift, particularly navigating the Mobility Transition Pathway released by the European Commission in January 2024. The webinar featured high-level speakers such as Lorena Ionita, Deputy Head of Unit for Mobility at the European Commission, DG GROW, Joost Vantomme, CEO of ERTICO – ITS Europe, Stefan Deix, Director of the European Council for Automotive R&D (EUCAR), Dr Stephane Dreher, Senior Manager at ERTICO – ITS Europe.
The session began as Lorena Ionita, Deputy Head of Unit for Mobility at the European Commission, DG GROW, elaborated on the Mobility Transition Pathway and its co-implementation phase, emphasising the call for pledges. Ms Ionita outlined the challenges, opportunities, and actions identified in the pathway report, aiming to improve the resilience of the ecosystem.
Joost Vantomme, CEO of ERTICO – ITS Europe, discussed the organisation’s role in fostering a public-private partnership with a multi-sector approach to support the transition pathway. The speaker emphasised the collaborative efforts required across various sectors to achieve the desired mobility transformation. His speech also highlighted ERTICO’s dedication to making mobility smarter, cleaner, safer, and more efficient through collaborative partnerships and innovative approaches as a contribution to the Mobility Transition Pathway.
Stefan Deix, Director of the European Council for Automotive R&D (EUCAR), provided insights from the automotive OEM perspective on mobility transition pathways. The speaker highlighted the importance of innovation and collaboration in addressing challenges and driving sustainable competitiveness in the industry.
Dr Stephane Dreher, Senior Manager at ERTICO – ITS Europe, focused on research and innovation (R&I) efforts supporting the Transition Pathway. He outlined projects and initiatives aimed at developing and deploying zero-emission technologies, connected and automated vehicles, and resilient inland waterways infrastructure.
Each speaker contributed valuable perspectives and expertise to the webinar, covering different aspects of the mobility transition pathway and highlighting the collaborative efforts needed to drive meaningful change within the EU mobility ecosystem.
