Eurostat offers a new publication. In 2007, EU-27 road freight transport, measured in tonne-kilometres (tkm), was 27% higher than in 2000. The modal share of road freight transport in inland total freight transport (road, rail and inland waterways) has slowly increased over the years and is now 76%. In 2006, passenger cars accounted for 83% of the inland total passenger transport (passenger cars, buses and coaches, and trains), measured in passenger-kilometres (pkm).
