BRUSSELS – 9 January 2016 — ERTICO – ITS Europe, a public-private partnership of 120 organisations facilitating the deployment of intelligent transports systems (ITS) in Europe, publicly announced today the appointment of Jacob Bangsgaard, previously Director General of FIA Region I, as Chief Executive Officer effective 1 January 2017. Jacob Bangsgaard succeeds Hermann Meyer CEO at ERTICO since February 2008.

Cees De Wijs, ERTICO Chairman, said: “It is with great pleasure that I announce Jacob Bangsgaard as new CEO of ERTICO. His strong track record of success as Director General  at FIA Foundation made him the best candidate for the role. Mr Bangsgaard has demonstrated throughout his career the ability to design and lead strategies. I am most confident that Jacob will further evolve the ERTICO Partnership so that it can continue and further strengthen its mission to achieve effective and appropriate deployment of Intelligent Transport Systems.”

Jacob Bangsgaard biography

Jacob Bangsgaard is a Danish national with a university background in international economics and 25 years’ experience working in Brussels on transport and mobility issues.

Mr Bangsgaard has been Director General, Region I, of the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) since 2010, he is the President of the MaaS Alliance and he was a member of the ERTICO Supervisory Board since 2012. Mr Bangsgaard has an outstanding competence and proven leadership in all aspects of Intelligent Transport Systems especially concerning user aspects and needs.
