The European and French Programme Committees met to define the theme topics and sub topics for the 8th European Congress and Exhibition on ITS to take place in Lyon on 6-9 June 2011. The main focus of the Congress will be “Intelligent mobility – ITS for sustainable transport of persons and goods in urban regions” paying particular attention to the following topics:
- Co-modal urban transport management
- Electromobility
- From cooperative systems to integrated mobility services
- From smart concepts to successful implementation
- Governance and business issues
- Information and communication: providers and users
- ITS for adaptive and resilient cities
Lyon is the 2nd leading economic centre in France and is home to major manufacturers in the automobile sector. The Congress will be a major opportunity to meet multi-sector stakeholders who share a common interest in promoting future urban transport systems using ITS.
The organisation of this major 2011 event has begun with the active participation of the Grand Lyon the Rhône-Alpes Region the Lyon Urban Truck and Bus Cluster the French Ministry of Transport (MEEDDM) ITS France and the French organisations active within ERTICO – ITS Europe.
This event will be also the perfect place to measure the achievements in term of implementation and deployment which have occurred since the last time the European ITS Congress took place in Lyon in 2002.
