Malta’s transport regulatory authority is to subsidise student travelcards by 50 per cent to encourage university students to ditch their cars and use public transport.

Transport Malta together with the the Kunsill Studenti Universitarji (KSU) have launched a fund worth €10 000 that will pay for half of a student’s tallinja travelcard until the end of June 2016 (the conclusion of the current semester).

The maximum a student can be charged on their tallinja card in a month is €21.
