ERTICO’s MODALES project has launched a survey on legal recommendations related to vehicle tampering.
MODALES is an EU-funded research project which promotes low-emission driving behaviour and proper maintenance of the vehicle to reduce air pollution. Through this survey, the project aims to collect input from stakeholders such as manufacturers, type approval authorities, technical services, or inspectors.
The proposed recommendations, which are based on legal data collected and analysed by Spark Legal Network for the project, are divided into four categories: 1) the definition of tampering in the context of light duty vehicles, 2) legal requirements placed on manufacturers, 3) specific anti-tampering legislation, and 4) enforcement and penalties.
The survey comprises a series of legal actions, which respondents are required to prioritise and also provide reasons for their ranking. Respondents may choose to skip certain questions.
If your expertise and experience covers legal aspects related to road vehicles (type approval, inspection tampering, etc.) we would like to hear from you!
The survey can be accessed here until 9 September.
Thank you in advance for your time and feedback!
The MODALES project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 815189.
