The Royal Automobile Club of Catalonia (RACC) has been selected by the European Commission DG Enterprise and Industry to lead the organisation of a public event to showcase the most innovative electric vehicle technologies.
Among 20 other bidders the RACC was chosen along with Applus Idiada to develop build and present a competition electric vehicle in Barcelona (Spain).
The DG Enterprise and Industry is committed to support the deployment of the electric vehicle and thus has decided to overcome the existing barriers related to consumer prejudices against the electric vehicle. This prejudices have a lot to do with vehicle power its speed charging times and range between charges and therefore the EC has decided to face this issues by publicly demonstrating how innovative electric vehicles can be and to what extent can they fulfil to most demanding needs from users.
The showcase of this vehicle has been awarded to the RACC which has developed a long experience in demonstration projects related to vehicle technology and is regarded to be an independent and trustworthy motoring association.
The RACC has planned two events in March 2013 to showcase this vehicle that has been named as VOLAR-E:
1. The first event will be held at the F1 track “Circuit de Catalunya” and will be dedicated to VIP invited representatives from the automotive industry tier-1 suppliers utilities public administrations charging infrastructure companies and entrepreneurs of the electro mobility ecosystem.
2. The second event will be open to all public and will take place in the streets of Barcelona where thousands of consumers and future electric vehicle buyers will witness the capabilities of the competition electric vehicle and will also enjoy an exhibition of many other electric vehicles.
