The world largest Naturalistic Driving Study (NDS) dataset SHRP2 has been open for data re-use since one year now. In January 2015, the project entered into a new phase, when the original project that collected the data ended.
For the next 5 years, the focus is now on making the SHRP2 data widely available and providing user support. Numerous external and internal projects have already re-used the data only during this first year.
Several tools for data handling are under development, all to facilitate the data sharing and re-use of the data. Some of the more interesting tools are focusing anonymization of personal data in videos while still keeping the data essential for research, and feature extraction from video, which later could be shared widely. The latter is combined with another project, investigating which features should be extracted.
