The ITS World Congress 2024 in Dubai, centered around ‘Mobility Driven by ITS,’ will delve into pivotal areas shaping transportation’s future. The Technical Programme is anchored in four topics that lay the groundwork for the entire Congress. Today, we’ll explore two of these topics, Urban Mobility and Automated Mobility, to grasp their role in propelling future mobility.

The Call for Contribution is now open and accepting submissions, and we welcome researchers, practitioners, and thought leaders to actively participate by submitting their papers and proposals before 15 December 2023.

The focus on Urban Mobility

Urban mobility plays a pivotal role in shaping modern cities, impacting both people’s movements and goods transportation, as well as the overall urban sustainability and quality of life. With the global trend toward megacities, there’s a pressing demand for innovative urban mobility solutions to address the escalating impact of climate change.

We invite submissions of papers and proposals that focus on the multifaceted challenges of urban mobility. This includes the quest for seamless travel experiences, the design of safe, sustainable, and efficient urban mobility solutions, the coordination of investments on physical and digital infrastructure, advanced traffic management systems, and regulatory and legal issues.

Shaping the future: Automated Mobility

In the realm of urban transportation, automated mobility represents an extraordinary technological advancement. Automated mobility is  poised to not only revolutionise  the way we navigate our cities, but it is also expected to impact the entire transport and mobility system. Its potential benefits include enhanced safety, reduced traffic congestion, increased accessibility, and improved overall efficiency in urban transit. Safety is a key driving force, with autonomous vehicles poised to mitigate accidents caused by human error, ensuring safer roadways.

In terms of submissions for automated mobility, we seek to explore the intricate challenges surrounding regulation and governance, the development of autonomous systems, the innovative world of connectivity and communication technologies, high-resolution mapping solutions, the measurement of impact, and the critical consideration of security aspects, as well as user acceptance.
