ERTICO – ITS Europe is pleased to announce a dynamic programme of technical visits for the upcoming 16th ITS European Congress in Seville, 19–21 May.
Mirroring the ERTICO’s mission to advance intelligent transport systems and foster collaboration across sectors, the technical visits will offer participants an exclusive at real-world mobility solutions shaping the future of transport.
“Technical visits play an important key feature of every Congress, allowing the community to move beyond discussion and witness practical implementations of smart mobility in the host city,” comments Joost Vantomme, ERTICO CEO. “This year’s programme is really compelling with a mix of transport modes and innovations that exemplify our vision of a safer, more efficient and sustainable future.”
As a core feature of the Congress experience, technical visits complement the rich programme, from high-level plenaries, technical and special interest sessions to an innovative exhibition with close to 100 exhibitors and cutting-edge live demonstrations. These hands-on experiences will immerse participants in advanced use cases of ITS technologies, supporting advancements of innovation, deployment, and knowledge sharing across Europe’s transport ecosystem.
Participants will have the opportunity to explore leading sites across Seville, including:
- The DGT Traffic Management Centre and Seville City Council’s Mobility Centre, where real-time data and smart infrastructure enhance urban traffic operations;
- A Level 4 autonomous, connected shuttle, providing a glimpse into the future of public transport;
- Amazon’s robotics-enabled logistics centre, a prime example of how automation is transforming freight and last-mile delivery.
“This is an excellent opportunity to experience first-hand the transformative power of smart mobility,” says Francisco Sánchez Pons from CTAG, coordinator of the Congress technical visits. “We’ve curated a diverse and forward-looking programme that highlights how innovation is being implemented across the mobility spectrum in Seville.”
Further visits will include the Port of Seville’s Management Centre, the CATEC aerospace technologies centre, the Airbus industrial plant, and the connected mobility corridor between FIBES and the airport, where participants will witness vehicle-to-infrastructure communication and real-time traffic alerts in action.
Seville is not only one of Europe’s most picturesque cities, but also a pioneer in sustainable urban mobility. Through its Seville Respira initiative, the city is investing in cleaner, smarter and more accessible transport options. On the occasion of the ITS European Congress, delegates will have a unique opportunity to see how Seville is aligning with European sustainability goals through technology-driven transport solutions.
The ITS European Congress is expected to welcome up to 3,500 participants from both public and private sectors.
