Madrid seems to be in the midst of a love affair with the electric car, with two car sharing schemes for the electric vehicles proving exceptionally popular in the Spanish capital.

One of these is Emov, a new service, which saw over 100,000 customers sign up within only five months. It is gaining ground fast on Daimler’s Car2Go scheme, which has 166,000 subscribers for its 500 battery-powered smart cars. Madrid has the highest rental rate among Car2Go’s 26-city network.
