The AUTOPILOT team has been glad to participate to the 13th ITS European Congress in Brainport, Eindhoven, the last 3-6 June.

This unique event, gathering the ITS Community and offering a wide range of activities, sessions and brainstorming occasions,  was an additional possibility for the project to showcase findings and results of the first two years of work.

The inspiring discussions, which took place at the Evoluon, the futuristic Congress venue, covered many relevant topics in the framework of AUTOPILOT scope and mission: smart cities, open data access to mobility data, digital marketplace and IoT platforms for Connected & Automated Driving.

In addition to the Specific Interest Sessions and workshops proposed to the audience, the ITS EU Congress hosted, in the Automotive Campus of Helmond, a series of live demonstrations covering each use case tested by AUTOPILOT.

Thanks to the support of the partners in charge (NEVS, Valeo, TU Eindhoven, VTT and TNO), supported by the City of Helmond, Siemens, VicomTech, IBM, DLR and Gemalto, four use cases have been successfully demonstrated on two closed circuits, which included a parking area:

  1. Mobility Service, including vehicle booking and a platooning service;
  2. Automated Valet Parking through Iot for routing and scheduling the vehicles;
  3. VRU anticipation, to allow the driverless car to change the driving behaviour according to the road status;
  4. Road Hazard Anticipation, using IoT for sharing detection of road obstacles, such as speed bumps and potholes.

Among the visitors, AUTOPILOT team has been honoured to welcome the mayor of the city of Helmond, Elly Blanksma-van den Heuvel.

We are ready for the next event, moving further towards a higher level of mobility automation through the Internet of Things.
