The EU-funded project HEADSTART (Harmonised European Solutions for Testing Automated Road Transport) is an H2020 project running from January 2019 and for three years. The project is deployed by a consortium of 21 partners, from 9 different countries, under the coordination of IDIADA and Mr. Álvaro Arrúe. The consortium’s vision is to define testing and validation procedures of Connected and Automated Driving (CAD) functions including key technologies such as communications, cyber-security and positioning.  The tests will take place in simulation and real-world fields with the aim to validate safety and security performance according to the key users’ needs.

HEADSTART will bring together a network of relevant stakeholders from European, national and international CAD value chain to create consensus on needs and priorities in CAD validation. This stakeholder network will be clustered in expert groups on Cyber-security, Communications (V2X), Positioning, Scenario selection, Consumer testing (NCAP) and Type approval. These will align with relevant existing initiatives and provide feedback on consolidated methodologies and procedures  a harmonized solution for testing and validation of automated road vehicles.
