The Roman Empire was successful also because of its trend-setting road infrastructure. The ancient military road VIA DIAGONALIS stretched from today’s Zagreb to Istanbul and passed of course today’s Bulgaria.
When the Bulgarian authorities now inaugurated a new corridor (KM 112 to 117.5) of the MARITZA motorway near Kapitan Adreevo at the Bulgarian-Turkish border, they did not forget to mark the locations where the ancient Roman road and the new motorway meet.

SWARCO road marking materials were used to visualize the course of the Roman road on the new pavement. D480 coldplastic “structure” in special colours RAL 1014 (dark ivory) and RAL 8024 (beige brown) were applied as stochastically structured road markings in order to withstand the traffic impact of this frequently travelled road section.
